Chris Comer, Director of Science for the Texas Education Agency for nine years, was forced to resign after forwarding an e-mail, adding only “FYI”, which announced a public lecture by NCSE board member Barbara Forrest, an expert witness in the Kitzmiller v. Dover trial. We are here to call out Ben Stein and his ludicrous ideas that are the spotlight of his new movie Expelled, about Intelligent Design. Expelled is a manipulation of lies that repackages religious creationism as Intelligent Design and teaches it as science in public schools. We must stand up to keep religion out of our public schools’ science education. —————–UPDATE——————– Please take part in the fight against creationism and religion in schools. Promote real science. Help spread the word on our new video. www.youtube.com Rate it, share it, comment on it. Get the word out! Go to www.ExpelledExposed.com to find out more!

Fuck that school! That teacher was within her constitutional rights! She hadn’t even said anything to the students about it yet!
Why should she remain neutral about creationism? It’s not scientific at all! If she’s a science teacher, she should be able to clarify to the students what counts as science and what doesn’t, and creationism would be an excellent example of pseudoscience.

@slyfox7373 Please tell me that is supposed to be a joke. You have to be careful saying things like that. There are real people who are actually that stupid, so people might take you seriously.

@CobinRain Ironically, theists point to these “atheistic” communist regimes in order to “prove” that atheism is evil. But these regimes were only evil to very extent that they behaved just like a freakin’ religion. “The party is inerrant, the state is infallible”. Inerrant is what fundy christians call the bible and infallible is what catholics call the pope.

I live in texas, this makes me so sad. Because I know that the radical right are so deep seated here that its almost impossible to make any changes, but I hope she’s kept up the good fight. Also makes me fear for the credibility of my future degree.

Those that believe in gods are mentally unstable. The good news is that fewer people are inflicted with belief in the myth of gods. Let’s hope that the delusion is marginalized before that crazy bastards blow us all up in a war over which version of the god myth is correct.

Notes from the civilised world: What happened to this woman used to happen all the time in the Soviet Union and other east bloc countries; I saw it myself in East Germany. In the west we tend to believe that “dissidents” were sent to Siberia. Some were for sure but by the 1970s most got the treatment that this women got. Forced to resign for things that appeared to cross the line and criticise Marxism-Leninism. Usual deal was “resign and you can keep your pension” ; refuse and we will ruin you

@knowwaie Actually we were “talking about school” and I was talking about ACTUAL GOVERNMENT BUSES. Or do you not research them?
“Public education was also mentioned by Karl Marx.” And Hitler was a sugar-eating vegetarian. Fyi, public education was also mentioned by the Ku Klux Klan, Hitler, and Socrates. Argument by association is not necessarily fallacious, but your use of it is.
“You’ve misconstrue my words with every response.” I’ve quoted you in the context you yourself have provided.
