… or just buy a cutting disc for 80p which is designed to the job and do it properly.. oh and why not buy a disc guard while you’re there, after all, it cant be easy to get bits of broken disc out of your skin/ eyes is it?

  2. Atheyst says:

I bought my grinder for $30 at home depot and the discs are $2 each.

  3. Atheyst says:

I don’t use one on mine because it gets in the way and makes me have to change discs more often because I can’t change the position of the grinder for the smaller disc. I have accidentally cut myself a few times and it doesn’t do much if you’re not holding it there. I got a little scrape.

Thanks for the video. I don’t mean to be an ass about it, but as usual with youTube instructional videos, there’s 20 seconds of information in a 3 minute (or longer) video. You are obviously (trying to be) making money off this, so please just think about what you want to say and say it concisely. It’s frustrating to watch all the blah blah. Thanks though!

I can’t believe nobody so far hasn’t commented in the fact that he cut into his table!!!!! Dude, clamp your metal piece off the SIDE if your bench!!!! Why in earth would anyone cut directly into their bench? WHAT, ARE YA NEW OR SUMTHN??? Grinders are fine for cutting, as long as one uses a “CUTTING DISC.”. The guard is mandatory too. Those discs explode like a mini hand grenade!!!

  8. garygrady000 says:

yes you can but buy a cutoff wheel made to cut aluminum, they dont clog.

  9. garygrady000 says:

The cutoff wheel is great for a few items. There is also one just for aluminum. If several lengths of items are needed a band saw is better and faster.

im lookin to make something out of 1/4″ or 3/8″ steel sheets. would a grinder make long cuts? does it take a long time to cut 1/4″ steel? or is it worth while and money to get a chop saw that can cut steel?

  19. zloben9000 says:

you need TOOLS to tighten the disk !
cant tighten it by hand !!!
you will INJURE yourselves not using the tools !

    not a joke !

hey i need to cut through 1/4 inch galvanized steel will this still work?

  22. DimebagsLeftToe says:

I want to cut the middle piece of the frame on sunglasses that connect the lenses. think that’s possible?

  23. jtbmetaldesigns says:

    For all concerned…
Use both hands as this give you more control if the grinder gets caught up and tries to fly away. Wear face sheild and welding gloves.

The tool is somewhat heavy so let the weight be the pressure to do the work. NEVER force as the disc could shatter and shoot shrapnel or you smoke the motor
