Please don’t think i’m being all emotional and awkward… Genuinely true
and sincere in a positive way I promise In 2009 two days before my
GCSE’s my love, brave but very poorly dad passed away after a 2yr ish
battle. He was the one to look after us & keep up safe and happy. I lived
(and still live) with my mam and little sister so all of a sudden I felt
like I had to protect them both… I would sit up for hours listening out
to make sure nobody could do harm in the night (totally ridiculous I know!
Seems so silly still) like break in or something even though we live in a
very safe area! ASMR videos were literally the only thing that would make
me feel remotely sleepy as i’d be so alert and not be able to ‘switch off’.
I’m so grateful still for ASMR videos as the tingles help me even when i’m
up stupid times in the night still. They’ve made me so much more relaxed
about falling to sleep and not having to worry so thankyou for making such
lovely videos that help me drift off. Now even my boyfriend of a year and 7
months (so didn’t know me during the worst time) will listen to them with
me to help me sleep & even he loves asmr videos now! ❤️ xxxxxx

Sleephones are a great idea well marketed but they are very expensive
considering the poor quality of materials used.
The audio quality is fine for speech (and therefore asmr) but terrible for
music etc.
Mine lasted 3 months before the wiring fell apart so i stripped them and
put some cheap slim headphone speakers in the head band

what asmr means to me….. I don’t recall what age I was when I would get
tingles from personal attention from my older sister playing and touching
my arms, back, and hair. I learned about ASMR after searching YouTube for
relaxing videos. It really helps me fall to fall asleep quickly although a
little harder when on vacation and sharing a bed with someone. Since I have
learned about ASMR I have discovered other triggers besides touch. Some of
my favorite triggers are personal attention, role plays, eating sounds and
informative ones.

Asmr to me is about escaping reality. Some people choose alcohol ,others
choose other substances I choose asmr. When life is rough or I need a pick
me up ,or i’m having trouble sleeping because my mind is in overdrive I use
asmr to combat these things. 99% of the time it does work. I’ve seen the
sleepphones around but never considered buying them because they were wired
(at the time of research there was no such thing as wireless sleepphones)
,and due to having crappy experiences with earphones in bed trying to sleep
and using asmr videos = fail ,that put me off (now i just watch/listen
prior to bed/sleep).. The wireless ones intrigue me but the price puts me
off. I think we need a european vendor, either way it would of course be
lovely to win these x

Hi Emma . I think it is so kind of you to do this giveaway for your viewers
. I just discovered what ASMR is last year. I remember having tingles as a
child but never knew what it meant . I always enjoyed anything that gave me
tingles. As I got older I noticed certain people would trigger my tingles
by their actions but I have a funny story for that…..I was once told that
when angels come down to earth and you are in the presence of one you would
get the chills or a funny feeling on your head or neck. Little did I know
that years later I would discover that to be ASMR lol. I have been so
thrilled by what I have discovered in the ASMR community. I have found
complete acceptance and total relaxation from so many people and videos. I
have less anxiety and sleep better now,and also chuckle at the thought that
all the ASMR artists are “angels ” that give me tingles ! ASMR is my
private relaxation getaway everyday where I can unwind and unplug from the
world! Thank you so much for sharing your talent with the world ! Xoxo

I first discovered ASMR as a little girl I’m I think around 2nd grade? When
we had our nap times, I would lay on my cot and listen to my teacher
typing. It was a huge trigger to me. And she did it all the time. It would
relax me so much. A lot of my friends also used to play with my hair in pre
school because it was so long so I would get tingles by that also. ASMR has
always been a part of my life.
I first knew about ASMR and all these videos 2 years ago and now I am
hooked.

ASMR was my lifeline during my debilitating pregnancy, as I desperately
searched for an answer to my pain and suffering. It later followed me to
the bomb shelter as my kids and I struggled to find solace and comfort amid
the sirens and rocket attacks.
More than anything, I feel that ASMR goes beyond the tingles. It’s about
what you’re left with when the videos end: an appreciation for the objects
in your life, a voice of quiet and reason in a loud and stressful world. A
lifestyle. More than anything, it’s a way of living. Thanks for all of
this, Emma.

Hi Emma – For me ASMR provides relaxation, stress control, and now and
then, full-blown tingles. Beyond that, I believe that some video makers
have raised ASMR to a form of performing art. I love videos that créate a
meditative experience or make a strong emotional imprint on the viewer.
I am fascinated to see ASMR evolve and like to encourage video makers
whenever I can.

Good day Emma,
What ASMR means to me is getting away from the stress and depression from
dealing with life. I especially find videos like yours relaxing and
calming; your voice and the way you use your hands is very hypnotic and
reminds me of good times and being loved.

ASMR has been a part of my life since mid 2010. I watch it at least one
video everyday! 90% of my subscriptions are asmrtist, lol. The first time I
discovered ASMR I was looking for tranquil nature noises for sleep. I came
across a video and my sleep has never been as relaxing as it is today.
Jesus Christ, I live for ASMR! lol

ASMR videos take me away to another place, stops me thinking about all past
and present worries or hurts for the duration. They’re also incredibly
helpful for my insomnia. I’m so so grateful for asmr ❤❤

So many lovely answers from so many warm friendly loving people It says
a lot about what this means to everyone and also what kind of people have
been embraced by ASMR.
I somehow found it three or four years ago following a really bad time via
relaxation podcasts & guided meditations. I remember hearing ‘lita’s’ voice
with rain sounds on trees and melting! It may have been before the term
ASMR was used. It was certainly before I connected it with the lovely cosy
feeling I got when I was little and my mum would gently brush the palm of
my hand or the inside of my elbow with her fingertips and make me shiver,
or the fact I would leave the open university on bbc2 when going to sleep
because the slow lovely monotone voices would always make me instantly fall
asleep (something I later discovered stayed with me during even the most
interesting of university lectures!)
I’ve never really left comments on videos (possibly because the comments
section of YouTube always seemed to be such very odd places, although this
is something the majority of ASMR viewers do seem exempt from it must
thankfully be said) I have such huge admiration for the artists who put so
much into making the videos. Indeed, the production values of some of the
more ‘out there’ artists have become almost cinematic! It’s amazing to have
witnessed all this come almost from nowhere.. Although I suppose that’s the
point, it’s really come from the hearts of so many like minded, kind,
loving & generous people all over the world.
So thank you Emma & thank you to everyone who is underneath this wonderful
cosy umbrella or ASMR ☔️ Xx

I don’t (sadly) get asmr or if I do it is very very subtle. But for me asmr
means relaxation. I suffer from quite a bad insomnia time to time but
luckily I know of this very efficient sleep medicine called asmr.

I have a random question! It seems like a lot of the asmrtists know one
another. Does it affect you differently when you watch a video if you know
them personally?

Hi Emma,
My story begins about 4years ago now, when i was first diagnosed with M.E.
I wasn’t a stranger to meditation, and needing relaxation on a daily basis
at least 3 times a day, i started to search you tube for some suitable
tracks.
Having M.E. means i suffer chronically with fatigue and find relaxing and
drifting into a deep sleep really troublesome, so i began to think about
things that were relaxing to me. I had never heard of Asmr before and after
searching for ‘page turning’ and ‘quietly spoken’, i came across the lovely
maria with a role play, intrigued , i gave it a go and promptly fell
asleep!
I was so pleased with the effect this asmr was having, i decided to search
‘storytime at school’ and came across one of your earlier role plays of
being a school teacher settling the class down for a story. This took me
right back to my school days and again, i fell asleep. I was at last
getting the relaxing relief i needed.
Now although asmr hasnt cured me, it certainly has played a huge part in my
quality of life and improved the way i cope on a day to day basis. I can’t
thank you enough Emma for what you do and to the Asmr community worldwide.
I promote asmr to all i think would benefit.
The #sleepeasy headphones for someone like me, would be the next tool i
need to help me stay comfortable and get ghe most from my relaxation slots
throughout the day.
Thank you again Emma xxxx
Love
Sam xxxx

I’m so glad I can enter even though I live in France! I discovered ASMR
through a press article, I experienced it before but I did not know what it
was exactly.
Then I watched videos on Youtube, followed my favorite ASMRtists, and found
out more about the sounds and effects that I enjoy the most (brushing
sounds, massages, sound of the ocean, slow hand movements… and australian
or british accents apparently )
Now I watch ASMR talking videos before I go to sleep (sometimes when my
boyfriend is not around it helps me to fall asleep to hear a friendly and
calm voice. I like yours, even when I can’t help closing my eyes I can
still hear you smile ) AND non talking videos when I am trying to relax
and focus at work (of course, I’m just listening then).
I know that sometimes people on Youtube write mean comments so I hope that
all the stories you’re collecting here will give courage to the ASMRtists:
what you are doing is really helping some of us! Keep on with the good
work!

ASMR was always one of those things that I found pretty unremarkable until
I realised it was a thing.. I always got tingles as a teacher read to me,
or at the doctors, but thought everyone else did too. It wasn’t until I
started working night shifts at a club and needed sleep guidance for the
daytime that I stumbled on ASMR, and realised people spend time creating
content to encourage tingles! Since then, I’ve used ASMR as a very
successful form of stress relief and sleep aid – I think tingles are as
relaxing as they are intense – and keep on encouraging my friends with any
form of sleep difficulty to do the same. Thanks for another lovely video
Emma, it’s always appreciated xx

i remember when i was little hearing certain things, like typing on a
keyboard or the soft humming as my grandmother would cook, and sometimes
even the noises of utensils she used would make my head tingle. i never
knew what it was until i talked to an old friend about it, and we both
experienced it, even though some of our friends thought we were crazy
because they never experienced anything like that. we did our research and
finally had a name for what it was ! asmr. we were so excited that we
finally knew it was a thing…a huge thing and community on youtube, and
now i listen to it every night. but it was the biggest for me after my
grandmother had died. i spent a good portion of my childhood living with
her, and when she died i didnt know what to do. i couldnt sleep. except for
the nights i listened to a few asmr videos. now, im hooked, and it just
makes me feel happy and relaxed when im stressed, or tired when i cant
sleep. i am so glad that i was finally able to put a name to the sensation,
or else i would have never come across this community :3 thanks for making
wonderful videos and giving us even more wonderful tingles !
