I’ll see if I can find tome to make a video on just no-ip over the summer. This takes more preparation because I’ll need to first undo what I did for my current setup so that I can show the start to finish. I can’t change my settings now because it’ll affect other people using my internet.

Hey Hammy, did you ever make that dedicated NoIP video yet???? when you do please cover every single basis on it much appreciated! cuz mine still doesnt work for some odd reason? Anyhoo take care!

Hi Rick. Good suggestion. I’ll look at adding bullet points or outline to the next tutorial.

Mr. A. Hamster, Thank you for putting these tutorials together and helping people like myself with little to no networking experience. Id like to make a suggestion/request that you number or alphabetize them perhaps right in the title or bold print in the comments just to make it easier to follow along step by step and quickly find the right tutorial without having to open each to find the program needed. Thanks again.

Hi. I don’t know what model you own but all the ones I purchased today come with the updated firmware that supports no-ip under DDNS. Either case, I’ve e-mailed you the link to download the firmware.

    Dear Awkward Hamster,
I am leaving on a trip tomorrow and am trying to set up my foscam so I updated my firmware to the .46 but it seems that they have tweeked it to no longer support no-ip. My question is, is there any way you can email me the firmware and web ui files that you used in this video so I can use no-ip. If this is possible my email is dorn.michael10@gmail.com. Any advice you have is very appreciated

    from bonnie Scotland

The internal IP would start with 192. The internet IP starts with something other than 192. Go to whatismyip dott com. This will tell you your internet IP.

  9. 75drcastro says:

Ok, seems odd that something would change on router from updating firmware but Ill start there.

Im somewhat of a novice so I assume when u say “internet IP”, thats the address that starts like 192.162.1.etc (just t be certain). I get the page where i choose “server push mode”, after putting in my UN and PW the camera image appears no problem. Same as if I open the IP camera tool.

Ill let you know what happens

I suspect the issue is with the port forwarding rules on your router. It could be other things but I would start there first.

On a separate note, If you put your internet IP into your web browser, what load?

  11. 75drcastro says:

Sorry yes I meant via ethernet NOT USB. Within my network (i.e. at home) I can see access both cams. Its only when Im outside my network (i.e. at work) that I cant access that one camera. Should I redo the UI settings or router or both?? Thanks

  12. AwkwardHamster says:

None of my Foscams have a USB port. I’m guessing you meant LAN.

Are you able to connection using your Internet IP? Because if you can’t, then I think the issue is with your port forwarding rules.

As always, very useful and informative tutorial, thanks!! I have question though. I have 2 FI8910W’s. I just updated both of them. One I updated via wireless and worked perfectly. The other I updated via USB and seemed to work well also. The only issue is now I cant connect via my DNS server and all settings seem to be intact and correct. Any ideas??? Come across this before???

  14. AwkwardHamster says:

No. The Foscam’s I purchased recently already has the updated firmware.
Also, if by some chance it doesn’t have the latest firmware, recommend reading what the new firmware will address. If it’s not something that interests you, then there is no rush to update the firmware.

  15. mw3vet says:

Will I have to update the firmware if I get the camera after the update is out?

  16. AwkwardHamster says:

No-ip is optional. It’s just an alias of your home internet IP. So if putting your home internet IP doesn’t work, then no-ip won’t work either.

  17. michael55344 says:

My no-ip never works I have f18910w it always says error in communication, and when I type it in the address bar nothing comes comes up. so I can’t view my cameras from outside my home.

  18. AwkwardHamster says:

I haven’t encountered that issue so I don’t know if the firmware fixes it.

  19. Ryan's Range Report says:

Mine seems to just randomly go to NV mode, and reflects off the glass. Then it will also just show up in the corner for some reason. Does the firmware fix this?

    Thanks

Thanks, I choose Foscam after watching your videos.

    Great vids!

    I have among others a FI8909W-NA.

Firmware is 11.13.2.17. I checked the list of firmware updates and I can’t find one for my camera. Howerver, I would like No-Ip support. I there a way to achieve this?

    Thanks!

  22. AwkwardHamster says:

I would not recommend it because these models have pan and tilt. I would be afraid of rust.
And in the mornings, I would worry about fog on the lenses.

  23. GarretB123 says:

Awesome job! I’m really enjoying your videos. I ordered three of the Foscam FI8910W from Amazon just before Christmas. I am using them to upgrade from an outdoor Foscam that has been acting flaky… (flashing IR lights) and no connection. Maybe needs a firmware upgrade.. I don’t know. I know these are rated for indoor use, but can you use outdoors say under a porch without problems?

  24. AwkwardHamster says:

Thank you for the kind words.

  25. Craig Sh says:

Thanks for the video clips , they really help me to do things on my own. Keep up the great work , we all are thankful for your input.
