are you running skype or teamviewer? usually instant messaging applications use port 80, you’ll need to exit any of these in order to install properly

I am no longer maintaining this video. I don’t use XAMPP and try not to use Windows anymore. Please take it for what it’s worth but if you have questions, ask Google (he’s always listening).

Thanks for the suggestion parkgore. I did this a year and a half ago for school so won’t be updating it. The funny part is that it’s done really well on YouTube but I didn’t get a good grade on it.

just a quick suggestion.
Instead of making people type out the URL, you should post it in the information box, i had to re-listen to you read it out 3 times to get it in haha… i know its just laziness, but for you to do it it will always stay there, it speeds up the process and its a great help as was your tutorial, thank you very much.

You should be able to access your computer from another, that’s the point of DynDNS. If you aren’t able to, it may be something with your ISP blocking ports.

If you actually try to use this for a production web server, you’re an idiot. This would be good if you wanted to show clients what you’ve been working on and don’t have access to a separate web server.

Cool tutorial. I use XAMPP on my local machine to test things out before I implement them on my production web server.
Thanks,
Chris

I am a web developer and so must set up a server on my computer. I’d like to see them try to shut down my livelihood.

hello i have an easy question.
I did all that successfully but now all i want to do is redirect the user to another page/directory because right now he’s able to see the directories (folders) i have in “htdocs”
for example:
folder1
folder2
xampp
I want him to be redirected to folder1/index.php
What file do i need to edit for that?

It sounds to me like your ISP may be blocking port 80. Try forwarding port 80 to port 81. Let me know if this works.
